Received some negative comment on the mail relating to tongues and, having responded, thought it appropriate to send to the list as well.
Hi ....
Thought quite a bit about your mail and felt should write again.
Firstly, important to stress that there are MANY demonic tongues and demonic manifestations associated with these demonic tongues and demonic anointings. Totally agree with you on that point.
Secondly, there are many carnal displays of "praying in tongues" which do not conform to Scripture in terms of tongues not being for public display when there is no interpretation.
1 Corinthians 14:27-28 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. 28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. (NKJ)
In other words, a large proportion of what is presented as being of Yahweh is NOT. Anyone with reasonable spiritual discernment will recognize this.
However, there are many scriptures which refer to tongues and interpretation - see appendix.
Consider particularly 1 Corinthians 14:2 "For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries." (NKJ)
Furthermore, there is no basis for Satan to counterfeit something which is not from Yahweh, so, accepting that there are demonic tongues implies that there must also be tongues from Yahweh, even if seldom encountered, else there would be nothing for Satan to counterfeit.
Please pray about this. Do not want to get into division over this point but it IS an important truth that is lost to much of the Body and corrupted in much of the rest of the Body. Like all other truths in this realm, it is necessary for it to be restored. True HOLY SPIRIT inspired prayer in another language is exceptionally powerful and extremely important and therefore greatly hated by Satan. In this case, as with many other critical truths, the more vicious the condemnation, the more likely that somewhere in the middle is a critical truth trying to get out.
Shalom
James
